Lemon Aid

Lemon Aid

You may not know this, but in some states, it is illegal to have a lemonade stand. Fortunately, here in Connecticut, it is technically legal. And at a time when we’ve been given lemons, and your kids want a chance to make lemonade, here’s some good news from Country Time. They are offering  “The Littlest Bailout. An economic relief program to help the smallest of small businesses: lemonade stands.”

They are offering $100 to kids whose lemonade stands have been affected by the virus. If your child is 14 or under, and with your permission, they have to write an essay that answers the following question: “How would your child use their stimulus check to juice the economy?” and a photo of the lemonade stand they were going to use but can’t. Country Time will award 1000 grand prizes.

If the big guys are getting a bailout, why not lemon aid for the littlest entrepreneurs. Deadline is August 20, 2020.

TickDoc

TickDoc

A radio engineer I know must travel by boat to repair and maintain a transmitter, and in the summertime the fields surrounding the towers are full of ticks. His solution to keep them off his legs is to wrap duct tape, inside-out, around the bottom of his pants to catch any questing creatures that may want to climb aboard and feed on his blood. I call him “MacGyver” for his ingenuity. However, what works for him is not a solution for our furry friends.

Because we had a mild winter, this is a bountiful tick season, according to our friends at North Haven Animal Hospital, and you may have noticed an increase in the number of ticks your pet has been attracting.

Ticks feed on deer, mice, raccoons, and other wild animals, where they tap into diseases such as Lyme and pass them on to our dogs and us.

They recommend you control ticks on your dog with topical products, some of the newer anti-tick collars, or ingestible medications. All are effective and convenient to use, but watch out for online or over the counter drugs, as they can be ineffective and even dangerous.

Before you give your dog any tick treatment, be sure to check with his or her Doc.

Have a safe summer.

*Ultra Rare* Donna Summer on WEBE108

*Ultra Rare* Donna Summer on WEBE108

I have been going through cassettes from my WEBE108 archives. Here is a never heard before interview with the legendary Donna Summer in August of 2005. It’s the unedited version of my phone conversation with Donna for her then upcoming show at Mohegan Sun. Parts of my interview aired, but this is the whole piece. Bruce Sudano, her husband picked up the phone, and I had heard that he and Donna just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. The first few seconds of the conversation is a bit muddy in sound, but it clears up. He and Donna lived locally for years here in CT. This is a behind the scenes of how I do interviews, and a pretty incredible chat with the “Queen Of Disco”. Her music is timless! Enjoy!
