Host Open House

On February 16, 2012, this SEU hosted a Cumulus Media Open House at 350 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Our SEU solicited potential employees to attend this event and promoted the Open House on its Stations.  The SEU also participated and provided attendees with information about career opportunities in broadcasting as well as job opportunities within the SEU.  SEU participants included the Market and Sales Managers.

On April 28, 2012, this SEU hosted a Cumulus Media Job Fair at the Fairfield County Women’s Expo.  Our SEU solicited potential employees & employers to attend this event and promoted the Fair on its Stations.  The SEU also participated and provided attendees with information about career opportunities in broadcasting as well as job opportunities within the SEU.  SEU participants included the Market and Sales Managers.

Co-Sponsor Job Fair

On September 27, 2012, this SEU co-sponsored a Job Fair at the Trumbull Marriott in Trumbull, Connecticut.  Our SEU solicited potential employees to attend this event and promoted the Fair on all SEU stations.  The SEU also participated and provided attendees with information about career opportunities in broadcasting as well as job opportunities within the SEU.  SEU participants included the Market and Sales Managers.

On October 3, 2012, this SEU co-sponsored the Quinnipiac University Career Fair in Hamden, Connecticut.  Our SEU participated in this event and provided attendees with information about career opportunities in broadcasting as well as job opportunities within the SEU.  SEU participants included the Market and Sales Managers.

Co-Sponsor Job Fair

On October 12, 2012, this SEU co-sponsored a Job Fair at the Ethan Allen Hotel in Danbury, Connecticut.  Our SEU solicited potential employees and employers to attend this event and promoted the Fair on its Stations.  The SEU also participated and provided attendees with information about career opportunities in broadcasting as well as job opportunities within the SEU.  SEU participants included the Market and Sales Managers.

Internship Program

This SEU has an active Internship Program that it promotes on station websites and over the air.  Information about the Program is also sent to local colleges and universities.  During this reporting period our SEU sponsored seventeen (17) interns from the following schools: Quinnipiac University; University of Colorado; Temple University; West Virginia University; University of Delaware; Siena College; Housatonic University; Trumbull High School; Staples High School; Fairfield Ludlowe; Bryant University; St. Joseph’s University; Champlain College; University of Maryland; Fairfield University; and Eastern Connecticut.  These interns assist the Promotions and Programming Departments with a variety of tasks including SEU public relations, non-traditional revenue events and on-site station broadcasts.

Participate in Scholarship Program

During this reporting period, the WEBE General Manager was a member of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association’s Scholarship Program selection committee.  College students interested in a broadcasting career were encouraged to apply through Station WEBE.  The Selection Committee members screened and evaluated applicant/student applications to determine which students would receive scholarships.
