From the Office of the CEO
State of the Bank Update
Gary C. Smith, CEO
December 2010
As the year comes to a close, I wanted to take this opportunity to update you about upcoming events and the Bank’s progress over the year. As you know, the financial services industry continues to be challenged and the economy remained the top story of the year. I know the condition of our economy concerns everyone, as it should. I am pleased to report that our Company continues to remain strong and stable, even in these turbulent times.
Looking ahead to 2011, we are excited to report we will be making significant investments in our electronic banking. Including; new on-line banking, e-statements and mobile banking. We already have the best branch network throughout the county and look forward to an improved electronic channel designed to extend the convenience of our bank and exceed our customers’ expectations. We have no plans to open additional branches in 2011, but do plan to consolidate two branch offices, one in Norwalk and one in Fairfield.
We often hear the news media report that “banks” are not lending – well Fairfield County Bank has never stopped lending, in fact, we are proud to report that this year our residential lending has remained strong and our lending team was more active than ever. In addition, our business lending continued to support the growth and development of local business as well as our Company. Once again, we were awarded the Small Business Administration’s Annual Eagle Award and are one of the top banks in 7A and 504 SBA Loans in Connecticut. Our commitment to the community through our lending was possible because we remain well capitalized and profitable.
We remain committed to the communities we serve and actively support a number of civic and charitable organizations throughout Fairfield County. In 2010, we contributed over $500,000 to organizations, events and programs. In addition, many of our employees contribute personal time and resources to nonprofit organizations.
In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and employees for their support and commitment throughout the year. We look forward to continued success in 2011.
